Uganda: Wasswa Scores First Goal At Karabukspor

Hassan Wasswa ended three months of waiting as he scored his first goal for Karabukspor in the Turkish League on Sunday.

The Shs285m (euros100, 000) buy from FC Cape Town in July buried home the third on 68 minutes as Karabukspor trounced Mersin 6-1 to move third in the table with 27 points, three behind leaders Konyaspor after 12 games.

Nigerian Emmanual Emenike, who moved to the club at about the same time with Wasswa, netted a hat-trick.

Comfortable both in central defence and midfield, Wasswa earns Shs16.8m (euros 5, 900) per month after signing a two-year contract worth Shs400m (euros 140, 000) in July.

The 23-year-old was a regular with Cranes under Lazslo Csaba and also played for the Olympic (U-23) side. He is the second Ugandan player to feature in the Turkish league after the late Magid Musisi in 1990s.

Salzburg win

In Austria, Ibrahim Sekagya's Red Bull Salzburg won 3-2 away against Wiener Neustadt to move top of the table on 31 points with three games left.

Swedish-born Ugandan Martin Mutumba added the Super Cup to the league title as AIK Stockholm beat IFK Gotenberg 2-0 on Saturday to clinch the double.

Brian Umony, who scored his first goal a week ago, didn't play as SuperSport beat AmaZulu 4-2 but goalkeeper Dennis Onyango was given green light by coach Gavin Hunt.

"Emile (Baron) has done an outstanding job so far, but I am sure Dennis Onyango, once he gets his chance again, will try to wrest it from him. I am very happy to have two quality goalkeepers in the team," he said.

David Obua and Hearts' woes continued as they drew 0-0 against Hibernian with the Ugandan introduced for the last 17 minutes.
