The Ssabanyala, Capt. Baker Kimeze, has warned Mengo leaders against the 'continued intimidation and harassment of his subjects.' The Banyala community leader said he is ready to die defending the rights of his people. The Banyala are a minority group in Kayunga District of Buganda who want automy.

Speaking at Kitimbwa Primary school, Wabwoko Sub-county, over the weekend, Capt. Kimeze said he is a trained soldier who has fought and won harder battles. "This conflict between us (Banyala) and Baganda is a simple one and I am sure that we shall emerge victorious," Capt Kimeze said.

This was his first public address to the Banyala since September when riots broke out in several parts of Buganda, after the government blocked the Katikkiro of Buganda J.B Walusimbi from visiting Kayunga District. "As long as I am still alive, no one will play around with our kingdom. You should also not accept to be intimidated by Mengo," he added.

The heavily guarded Ssabanyala urged parents to involve their children in the fight for the rights of the community members saying without doing so the "crusade to fight black colonialists."
