Abuja — A commercial bus driver with registration number XN647 ABC yesterday engaged officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in a shouting match at Wuse Bus stop.

The driver angrily told the FRSC officials that it was wrong for them to arrest him for seat belt violation when it was a passenger in his vehicle, who committed the offence.

The driver said he picked the passenger from Wuse bus stop and he refused to put on the seat belt because both of them were arguing over transport fare, when the FRSC officials stopped them.

An FRSC official said when the driver was stopped, it was discovered that his license was not valid and he did not have a fire extinguisher, adding that before they could explain his offences to him, he started insulting the FRSC team leader.

It took the intervention of traffic policemen to prevail on the driver before he listened to the FRSC officials.
