Nigeria: Colombia is One More Hurdle to Cross - Swiss Coach

Lagos — Having secured a semifinal ticket at the expense of his fellow European team, Coach Dany Ryser of Switzerland has admitted that his team has one more hurdle to cross in order to realize their ambition.

Coach Ryser, who was a happy man after guiding his youthful team to a 2-1 victory over Italy on Sunday night at the Gateway International stadium, Ijebu-Ode, affirmed that beating Colombian in their semifinal game on Friday in Lagos is the ultimate goal.

He averred that they would not relent in their efforts to utilize every opportunity that would come their way in the encounter.

He added that lifting the trophy is the team main target having reached this level despite being tagged underdogs at the commencement of the championship two weeks ago.

"We have proved our worth as a serious-minded team as far as this championship is concerned, nobody gave us chance of advancing from our group, but we have been able to prove the bookmakers wrong with all these records. We will not allow it to go down in our heads in our next game against Colombia on Friday in Lagos," he said.

He said, "my players have passed through many hurdles during our group matches in whom against all odds we came out unscratched while our Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches against Germany and Italy were not easy at all, but at the end we came out victorious."

Ryser however said Colombia is a good and determined team who earned stunning victories against Argentina and Turkey, who were impressive in the championship, but promised to scale through at the end of the encounter.

"We understand the hurdles before us and we are going to strategise once again just as we have done in our game against Germany and Italy. Colombia is very strong team that does not relent until the final blow of the referee whistle. They have that knack of coming from behind to level and eventually won their games. All these we will put into consideration before the day. We shall scale through," he declared.
