President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has received a delegation sent by President Mamadou Tandja of Niger on a special mission.
During closed door discussions Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the delegation Prime Minister Sem Ali Badjo Gamatie, delivered a special message on behalf of the Nigerien President.
Speaking later during remarks, President Johnson Sirleaf asked Prime Minister Gamatie to convey to President Tandja warm regards, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia. The Liberian leader spoke of the need for another meeting to discuss the political situation in Niger.
The delegation from Niger, which has already left the country, included Mr. Ousmane Samba Mamadou, Minister of National Education; Mr. Sanoussi Jackou, former Minister of State; Mrs. Gazobi Rahamou, former Minister; Mr. Karimoune Kassoum, Deputy Director of the Cabinet; Mr. Abdoulaye Moumouni Djermakoye, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister; Mr. Amadou Boubacar, Technical Adviser to the Prime Minister; and Mr. Mahamadou Aboubacar, representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Representing the Government of Liberia were Hon. Sylvester Grigsby, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hon. Christiana Tah, Minister of Justice; Hon, Amara Konneh, Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs; Dr. Edward B. McClain, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs; and Communications Director in the Office of the President, Shirley Brownell.
