Port — Former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, has denied decamping to Action Congress (AC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on phone to Vanguard in Port Harcourt yesterday, Sekibo said he was shocked by AC's claim, adding that the claim was tantamount to mischief.
According to him, it is not the receiving party that should issue a statement on the decampment of a politician, but the person decamping.
"What is the meaning of this? How can I decamp from a party and am not the person making the state-ment?
"How can the Action Congress claim that I have decamped to it without my even knowing about it?" he queried.
When informed that the statement from the party in Rivers State was credited to the national chairman of AC, Sekibo said, "have I ever met that man in my life let alone discuss with him?"
Sekibo, who was furious by the tone of his pronoun-cements, said, "Look, I am saying that I have never met that chairman in my life and I want you to tell the world that that claim is false and a blatant lie because I have never ever thought of decamping from PDP let alone talking to AC.
"I granted an interview to Vanguard on Sunday and if I was going to do such a thing, would I not have mentioned it? I am very angry to see this publication on Monday that I have decamped from my party, the PDP."
Spokesman of AC in Rivers State, Chief Eze Chuckwu-emeka Eze, had credited his statement to a directive by the National Working Committee (NWC) and National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, that Sekibo and others who had allegedly decamped, be accommoda-ted in the state's chapter of the party.
