Asaba — A Bill for a law to prohibit fraudulent land practices in the Delta State is currently before the state House of Assembly.

Chairman of the State House of Assembly Commit-tee on Land, Urban and Rural Development, Mr. Emeka Okonji, has assured that the bill was set to bring sanity in the sales of land and develo-pment of landed property when passed into law.

He stated this during a public hearing on the bill.

The bill seeks to criminalise the activities of fraudulent people or persons who sell other people's land or sell one land to more than one person.

It also seeks to check the activities of touts who go about demanding various sums of illegal fees from land developers.
