Kigali — President Paul Kagame yesterday reminded both serving and new leaders that to serve the Rwandan people is a task that requires constant commitment and hard work.
He made the call yesterday while presiding over a swearing-in ceremony of the new Minister in the President's Office in charge of ICT, Ignace Gahangara Gatare and Brig Gen. Emmanuel Gasana, the new Commissioner General of Police.
Kagame told a cross-section of senior government officials who attended the ceremony that solving Rwanda's historical problems was achievable but requires extra efforts from everyone.
"Achieving maximum security for all Rwandans requires a serious level of commitment, hard work, good work ethics and positive ideas that can be built upon," Kagame said.
He called upon the leaders to honour their oath of office and value it through achievements. Before being appointed as the Commissioner General for Police, Gasana had been serving in the Rwanda Defence Forces as the Acting Head of the Logistics Department.
He replaces Mary Gahonzire who is now serving as the head of Prisons services.
Gatare, a PhD graduate and Doctor in Engineering Sciences, replaces Prof Romain Murenzi who was granted a sabbatical leave in July.
