Namibia: Fatal Stabbing At Shebeen

HILENI Mathews (33) was allegedly stabled to death by her boyfriend at a shebeen at Oshivelo over the weekend.

Mathews was allegedly arguing with her boyfriend at the Lucky shebeen in Oshivelo on Friday. He allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the chest.

Mathews was taken to the Oshivelo clinic and was transferred to the Tsumeb State Hospital the next day, but died shortly after arrival.

The suspect was arrested.

The Police at Ruacana on Saturday arrested a 16-year-old schoolgirl for allegedly wrapping her newborn baby in a plastic bag and abandoning her behind the school building. The Police in Windhoek are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in the Havana township. According to the Police they broke open a gate and gained entry into a shebeen.

They removed a jukebox and two speakers. The suspects allegedly fired shots before leaving the shebeen.

No arrest has been made yet. Lishekere Mushinga Josephine (34) drowned in the Okavango River after she collapsed while fishing on Monday at Shitemo village in the Kavango Region.

Police at Outapi are investigating the death of Petrus Johannes (25), who allegedly hanged himself with a rope under a tree at Omhemba village on Monday. The Police are also investigating the death of Tumeni Joseph Iipinge (36) who allegedly drowned in a canal at Epalela village between Outapi and Ruacana on Monday.
