Kampala — IN winning Game 3 of the MTN-FUBA playoff semifinals with the Kyambogo Warriors, the Mountain Dew Falcons sent fans wondering whether they were braced for a repeat of the 2007 playoffs.
Though the Warriors would be reluctant to agree, the memory of how the Falcons pipped them to the 2007 championship will be playing on their minds when they step on the YMCA courts for Game 4 today.
Seemingly dead and buried after losing the first two games in the 2007 best-of-five playoff finals, the Falcons came back to defeat the Warriors in the final three to win the championship.
For the Warriors, it was a heartbreak, a moment that cemented their reputation as the nearly men of local basketball. And when the Falcons ousted them in the semi-finals last year, it was confirmation of the Warriors mental block against the record six-time men's champions.
With such history, Falcons will be confident despite going into today's tie trailing the Warriors 2-1 in the series.
