Kampala — THE battle of who is the legitimate boss at the Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) took yet another twist over the weekend.
Former boss Emmanuel Matsyetsye wrote to the world governing body asking them to disregard a letter from National Council of Sports general secretary Jasper Aligawesa..
Last Friday Aligawesa had written to ITTF introducing Andrew Gita as the leader of an interim committee running the affairs of the local body. An extra-ordinary assembly on September 27 passed a vote of no confidence to throw out the embattled Matsyetsye.
But in a message to the world body on November 7, Matsyetsye asked ITTF president and his counterparts at the continental and Commonwealth bodies to ignore all other communications because he was still the president of UTTA.
Matsyetsye insisted that the interim committee, which he referred to as a constitution review committee "have one specific assignment and are not in any way mandated to run UTTA affairs".
Matsyetsye claimed that there has been a campaign against him by NCS, which he said had failed to coordinate and interpret the federation constitution and administrative procedures.
He also attacked some members of the press for what he called biased reporting.
