Nigeria: Names of Sacked Senators Still on Senate List

Some weeks after the Court of Appeal nullified the election of some senators, their names were still listed as current members of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The names of the former senators were seen in the brochure of the ongoing retreat of the Senate in Enugu.

The Court of Appeal in Ilorin annulled the election of Femi Kila who represented Ekiti Central Senatorial District and replaced him with Sen. Bode Ola

However, the picture and name of Kila was in the brochure, while the name of Sen. Bode Ola, who was at the retreat, was not included in the brochure.

In the same vein, the name of former Sen. Iyiola Omisore, who was ordered by the Court of Appeal to face a re-run election about two weeks ago, was equally included in the list.

While the situation regarding Omisore could be explained in view of the short time, that relating to the FCT Minister, Alhaji Adamu Aliero, was beyond explanation.

The name of Aliero, who left the Senate to join the executive arm of government about a year ago, was also on the list

A PDP senator, who pleaded anonymity, described the development as "embarrassing, unfortunate and disappointing".
