Gombe — THE Amirul Hajj of Bauchi state contingents to this year's Muslim Pilgrimage to Mecca and Chief Judge of the State, Justice Sabo Suleiman Darazo has expressed joy over the arrangements for the state pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land through Gombe Airport.
According to his statement, it was great comfort taking-off from Gombe Airport, that apart from being nearer to Bauchi, all the rigours and time wasting usually experienced by intending pilgrims from Bauchi state at the Kano Airport has been made much more easier.
Speaking in a chat with newsmen at the Airport recently, Justice Darazo said the state pilgrims were comfortable and have nothing to complain, considering the great improvement in this year's journey to the Holy land.
He explained that Bauchi state government made adequate arrangements for all the intending pilgrims from the state saying it was not a surprise as Gombe state is known for such hospitality. This priority, he said would continue to enjoy attention of the Bauchi state government in subsequent Hajj operations.
The Amirul Hajj was pleased with security arrangements for the pilgrims and absence of delay in the clearing of the pilgrims at the Airport's check-in points unlike in the past when it used to last several days.
According to him, "I don't see why any one would prefer taking-off from Kano , which is over 400 kilometers to Gombe and only an hour's journey. It is reasonable and sensible for Bauchi pilgrims to be airlifted at Gombe Airport.
He said government has made adequate arrangements, particularly with regards to the 3,600 intending pilgrims from the state to ensure that the first three days would be comfortable and hitch-free.
As a leader of the Bauchi state team, he said he would leave no stone unturned in ensuring the comfort of the Pilgrims, adding that the pilgrims have been properly guided on how they would conduct themselves in the Holy land.
Darazo expressed optimism that 2009 pilgrimage would be conducted successfully and peacefully due to enormous improvement in the arrangement which government has put in place and which shows absolute commitment to the exercise.
