Banjul — One of the country's leading estate developers, Global Properties, on Saturday disbursed a staggering amount of D75, 000 (seventy five thousand dalasis) to Serrekunda East Sports Committee for the financing of its on-going nawettan league competition.
The company also donated two sets of football jerseys and one hundred T-shirts to be wore by this year's prospective league finalists and their supporters. Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium, Mr Musa Janko Ceesay of Global Properties said their move to sponsor Serrekunda East nawettan league tournament is in line with his companyÂ's keen interest in developing grassroots football where every future football star must pass through.
Reacting to the gesture, Mr Saihou Bah, an executive member of the Serrekunda East sports body, thanked Global Properties for coming to their aid at a time when it was much needed. He tasked other institutions to emulate Global Properties. Mr Bah said the sum will be used to purchase a giant trophy as well as rewarding the prospective league champions and runners with a cash amount of D30, 000 and D20, 000 respectively.
