Banjul — The criminal appeal case involving Lamin Ceesay and the state resumed yesterday at the Gambia Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Esther A. Ota.
The appellant was convicted by the High Court, presided over by Justice A. Yamoa on June 6, 2008 and sentenced to death for the murder of one Momodou Lamin Bayo on June 14, 2001 at Brikamaba vilage in CRR.
When the matter came up yesterday, the appellant's counsel, Pap Cheyassin Ousman Secka, applied for 14 days within which to file the appellant's briefs of argument. DPP. R.N. Chenge applied for 7 days within which to file the state's (respondent) brief.The matter was subsequently adjourned to December 15, 2009 for adoption of the briefs.
