Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi has commended Spring Bank Plc over the donation a multi-million naira 2-storey multiple classroom block to the Monsignor Maduka Memorial Secondary School in Ekwulobia as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Anambra State.

The project is the second major initiative of the bank in the state this year after the renovation of St. Anthony Catholic Comprehensive Institute, Agulu, which the state governor also commissioned eight months ago.

This is also coming as the management of the Bank received support from the Ondo state government for the repositioning of the bank.

Governor Obi who performed the opening ceremony last Thursday spoke about the partnership of Spring Bank Plc with Anambra State, especially, in the area of educational development, which he said remains the best way of ensuring sustainable development in the country.

He further expressed his appreciation to the bank, stating that the two projects Spring Bank has carried out in the state so far will remain an indelible mark in the history of the progress of the government and people of Anambra State.

He said, "I am happy with Spring Bank Plc because of their interest in the development of education in Anambra State. As far as this government is concerned, we have identified that the best way to make positive change in the system will be to develop our children in academics because they are the future of the country. That is why what Spring Bank Plc has done today in Ekwulobia is dear to my heart.

"I am happy with the Management and staff of Spring Bank Plc because of their continued support in this direction. I am happy that this administration is in partnership with the bank and in appreciation of what they are doing in the state, we will continue to show genuine support to the bank."

Earlier Mrs. Sola Ayodele, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank told the governor that Spring Bank Plc is happy to identify with the government of Anambra State in its dream to empower its young people through education.

The GMD/CEO who was represented by the bank's Regional Head, East 1, Mr. Boniface Nwade, said the bank is seriously committed to its objectives of contributing to sustainable development in the country through CSR initiatives everywhere it does business. "The donation of the school block to Monsignor Maduka Memorial Secondary School is part of our effort to return a bit to the community in which we operate." Ayodele said Spring Bank Plc shared the governor's vision that education remains the best investment for any nation that wants to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

On his part, the Igwe of Ekwulobia, Chief Emmanuel Onyeneke, thanked the governor and Spring Bank Plc for making Ekwulobia a beneficiary of the schools development initiative.

Meanwhile the management of the bank also received the full assurances of the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in its renewed efforts at reposition the bank on the path of growth and profitability.

Governor Mimiko who was speaking when Mrs. Sola Ayodele, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the bank led a Management delegation to the governor during the week also explained that he was sure the leadership of the bank will achieve its set target even in the face of the harsh realities in the financial sector of our economy.

The governor who acknowledged the huge presence of the bank in the state further assured, "We will support you and I wish the bank all the best because I'm convinced that with your wealth of experience in the banking industry, Spring Bank Plc will emerge as a force to reckon with in no time."

Earlier in her remark, Mrs. Ayodele who thanked the governor for granting her and her team audience even when the notice was short reassured the governor that her mission at Spring Bank Plc as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is to stabilise the bank and transform it into a strong and profitable financial institution that will be a pride to its stakeholders and the country at large.

While soliciting for increased patronage from the government and people of Ondo State, Ayodele added, "Your Excellency, I want to assure you that my mission is to stabilise the bank for greater profitability in no time at all. And I am glad to tell you that the bank has a wealth of experienced bankers that have joined me to achieve this set target. All we ask is for your support and cooperation."
