Residents of Gaborone West were treated to free music galore by one of the leading local artists, Odirile Vee Sento during the launch of a business venture, Play N Win at the G-West Mall.
Vee, who is the darling of most Batswana fun-lovers, dished out a song from his forthcoming album that is going to be launched some time early next year.
As usual the pint-sized artist was in his element and he did not disappoint his fans, who were undoubtedly attracted to the event by his presence.
Although the song was new to the ears of most revellers, they seemed to love it as it has catchy beats and danceable tunes.
One of Vee's dancers, known in music circles as Coming Soon, also drew 'oooh aahs' with his gravity-defying antics on stage as his mentor sang songs from his latest album, Everybady. The nimble-footed dancer, spotting a tinted Mohawk hairstyle, is undisputedly one of the leading dancers in the country and there is no doubt that he is one of Vee's draw-cards. Speaking to Showbiz after the launch, Vee said that his fans should be looking out for his latest offering around Easter next year.
"The song that you have just heard was produced in the studio today and I can assure you that it is going to be a hit because it caters for everyone as it infuses different genres," the kwaito star told Showbiz.
DJ Timmy, who performed a couple of songs from his album, supported him on stage. Play N Win is a business venture, which is owned by young entrepreneurs and owners of a company called New Opportunities, Ame Gabasiane and Phenyo Molefinyane. It sells scratch cards that allow lucky winners to walk away with anything from P 2 to P 10, 000.
The main beneficiary of the business is the charitable Boi's Helping Hand, a non-profit making organisation founded by former Miss Botswana, Boingotlo Motlalekgosi. The organisation helps young talented people from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially artists, realise their dreams.
Some of the lucky winners at the well-attended launch that looked like a mini festival, included Masego Sebetlela, Anthony Ganagagabo, Gaone Basupi and Maikaelelo Ngala who between them won over P 5,000.
