Abuja — The FIFA Goal Project in Nigeria was commissioned yesterday in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
FIFA President, Sepp Blatter who was represented by the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Issa Hayatou at the occasion said the world body was happy to establish the project in the country saying it will go a long way in assisting in the development of the game.
Hayatou then advised the teeming Nigerian youths to take advantage of the facility to discover themselves adding that they stand the chance of being one of the greatest players in the world in future.
He also promised that the world body will very soon come up with more initiatives that will enhance the true development of young talents not only in Nigeria but in the rest of the world.
Earlier in his own address, president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji. Sani Lulu Abudulahi thanked FIFA for investing in the development of football in the country saying the dream to do so was a very good one.
"We are honoured as a country to have these structures for development of female and youth football, this hostel has 42 fully air-conditioned rooms for the comfort of the footballers while in camp here".
He however said that the NFF also contributed in putting the facility together by constructing a quality and equipped it, procurement of water treatment equipment, 350 KVA generator set, pitch perimeter fencing and an access road and erosion control.
Sani Lulu then urged those that will succeed them at the federation to work hard to take adequate care of the facilities.
