Zambia: Ronnie Chides Media

12 November 2009

GOVERNMENT has expressed displeasure at misrepresentation of facts alleging that President Rupiah Banda had called Patriotic Front(PF) leader Michael Sata, son of Satan.

Chief Government Spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha said the story carried in some sections of the media was a deliberate misrepresentation under a campaign aimed at creating an impression that there was enmity between President Banda and Mr Sata.

"His Excellency the President has categorically refused having said those remarks," Lieutenant General Shikapwasha said.

Gen Shikapwasha said the misrepresentation of facts must be read in relation to the fabrication that veteran politician Grey Zulu had been treated like a criminal and that he did not receive any support from Government during the funeral of his son Agrippa.

Gen Shikapwasha called the media to avoid sensationalism in their reporting and instead always stick to the truth.
