Namibia: One Dead, Four Injured in Road Accident

A KARASBURG resident died instantly while four others were seriously injured when a vehicle in which they were travelling left the road and overturned on Saturday at around 24h00.

The accident happened on the Goodhouse gravel road some 20 kilometres outside Karasburg.

Police identified the deceased as Johannes Erastus (85).

The passengers who sustained serious injuries are Philomina Erastus, Nelfred Beukes, Piet Fredericks and Susanna Fredericks.

The Karas Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner Josephat Abel, said the Police were investigating a string of criminal charges including driving an unroadworthy vehicle, driving without a driver's licence, culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and possession of cannabis against the driver.

The driver is set to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate's Court today.
