Lagos — Three winners have been picked to embark upon South African Tourism sponsored an-expense paid trip to watch the epic make or mar 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification match between Nigeria and Kenya in Nairobi scheduled to hold this weekend.
Between the 2nd and the 9th of November, listeners were asked to answer a number of questions about the forthcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place in South Africa next year in two radio programmes aired on Classic FM and Beat FM.
Tunde Oladipo, Okagwu Ugochukwu Sunday and Jubril Sadiq emerged winners from a horde of listeners who featured in the programmes. They are to enjoy board and lodge as well as free tickets to the game in Kasarani, Kenya.
Interestingly, all the winners are bankers, while Oladipo and Jubril work for Oceanic Bank, Okagwu is a staff of Bank PHB.
The winners are to be joined in the trip by Disc Jockey and radio producer working for Beat FM, Mr. Folajimi Akinsola a.k.a DJ Jimmie.
"This is the first World Cup that is taking place in Africa and I am excited. I want the Super Eagles to be part of the World, I thank the South African Tourism for the opportunity they have given to help cheer the Eagles to victory", said a visibly elated Okagwu.
Commenting on the gesture, Sadiq said, "This gesture is a great motivation for me to be at the World Cup next year. I thank the South African Tourism for this wonderful opportunity, which in my opinion is a foretaste to what we should expect at the World Cup next year."
Since the commencement of preparations for the World Cup, South African Tourism has embarked on a number scheme aimed at creating a continental frenzy and excitement using several vehicles such as sponsorship of fans to World Cup match venue, promotion of Diski Dance and vuvuzela.
"We have always maintained that the World Cup does not belong to South Africa alone. It is Africa's World Cup. The game in Nairobi presents the opportunity for us to create excitement around the first ever African football world cup," says Phumi Dhlomo, Regional Director Africa and Domestic, South African Tourism.
