Monrovia — World acclaimed Liberian child rights activist, Kimmie Weeks says he has no political ambition and has no affiliation with any political party in the country.
Speaking to journalists at his Benson Street office Wednesday, Mr. Weeks he disputes rumors circulating in Monrovia that he is associated with a political party.
The youth activist who just returned from America to begin a new project of training kids and teachers from over 100 schools said his work is purely humanitarian and was not in any way involved with any political group.
"I think there are great political parties in Liberia, but I have yet to see one that I have associated myself with," Mr. Weeks asserted.
Mr. Weeks also said there have been speculations that he will contest the 2011 elections. "I want to make it emphatically clear that I will not stand for any office in 2011," he stressed.
The Youth Action International Boss also observed that his work in Liberia is fully focusing on promoting the well-being and development of Liberian children and youth. He said, "My personal goal is to reach out and impact more than one million young people in Africa, primarily in Liberia. This is a huge task and my energy is going into that."
The international human right activist also told journalists that he is presently operating a five-year vision which focuses on humanitarian gesture involving children.
"I don't want my humanitarian work to be confused with politics as my organization is contemplating reaching to all parts of the country." he indicated
Making reference to bill boards erected with his photo, Mr. Weeks said the boards are planted in certain areas in Monrovia will soon be extended to other parts of the country. He said the bill boards depict messages to empower young people in the country.
