Simba SC seeks Sh 600 million for preparations ahead of the forthcoming African Confederations Cup, the club's secretary general, Mwina Kaduguda said yesterday.

Kaduguda said they had no reliable sources of income, but would depend on Push Mobile and M-Pesa services to raise the required amount. According to him, Simba were in the best form ever and would want to get their preparations underway early on in order to outstrip their 1993 achievements.

"Our target is to romp into the quarterfinals in styles and that will need plenty of cash, but we'll strive to fulfill our mission," he said. The outspoken official said: "We don't have reliable sponsors, thus we are looking forward to our fans and other well-wishers to support us."

Kaduguda showered praise on their Zambian head coach, Patrick Phiri, saying he was the best in the region and at the best club. "He is incomparable in the region at the moment and every Simba fan expects their team to win several accolades under him," Kaduguda bragged.

The secretary said the looming Tusker Challenge Cup would serve to fashion their players for the continental event. "We'll bolster our squad with a few top class players during this mini- transfer window, hopefully they will increase depth in our side," he said

He said they were keeping tabs on some players, but declined to name them, saying the coach would do so in a few days. As Simba disclose their plans for the continental tournament, their city rivals, Young Africans, who are the country's flag bearers in the African Champions League, are still silent.
