Media owners in Africa are scheduled to meet in March to brainstorm on ways of attracting foreign investors to the sector.
The Pan Africa media conference to be held in Nairobi and organised by the Africa Media Initiative (AMI) will aim to provide linkages between African media enterprises and foreign investors.
Participants will also discuss what role the media should take up in the efforts to end negative perceptions derailing Africa's ability to attract foreign direct investments.
"We want to bring media owners from all over Africa and shatter the perception that in Africa, media organisations have to be small and operate in a shadowy manner to survive," said Amadou Mahtar, the executive director of Africa Media Initiative (AMI), as quoted by Business Daily.
A recent report by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said Africa will have to work on its competitive edge in the battle for FDI at a time when capital flows have reduced.
