BMC chairman, Sonny Phiri has said they are not in a rush to employ a new coach following the recent dismissal of Oris Radipotsane.
Phiri said they want the best man for the job and the recruitment process needs time.
"We have decided that we would use the whole month to try to find a suitable candidate for this job. We want to assess all the candidates without any rush. We have already received some CVs from some foreigner coaches who are interested in the job but we will take our time to assess them," Phiri explained. He said they are waiting for more applications, which should give them a wider pool to choose from.
Assistant coach Rapelang 'Razor' Tsatsilebe has been in charge since the departure of Radipotsane. Phiri said they will consider Tsatsilebe if he performs well and a reputable coach is not found. Tsatsilebe's first test will be against Township Rollers tomorrow.
"Right now, we have not really considered appointing him because we do not want to put him under pressure. The team is struggling and the pressure to get results is enormous. We want him to try and get the team back on track while we are waiting to make the final decision on the coaching job.
"We believe in him. That is why we want him to be in charge for a whole month and if he proves he is ready for the challenge, then we will not hesitate to give him a chance. But right now he is not our target," Phiri said.
BMC officials reportedly met on Tuesday to look at the CVs of the applicants for the coaching job but a decision was not reached. Phiri denied that they are looking for a foreigner though reports link the club to its former coach, Kaizer Kalambo who is currently back in his native Zambia. Reports from Zambia indicated that Kalambo is left with only three games before the end of his contract, heightening speculation that he is ready for a return to BMC.
The BMC hot seat fell vacant after the club fired Radipotsane following a string of poor results including an embarrassing defeat to newcomers, Killer Giants. Radipotsane's appointment at the beginning of the season to replace Godfrey Tamirepi was met with mixed reactions by BMC supporters and officials.
A loss to another newly promoted side, Jwaneng Comets in the opening league match only gave his critics reason to increase pressure on management to get rid of him. When he was finally given the boot, Radipotsane hit back saying the working conditions at the club are not conducive.
