Okere — The NkAwkaw and Okere Constituencies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have elected new members to steer the affairs of the party in the constituencies. Unlike other parts of the country where similar congresses witnessed massive violence leading to destruction of properties, that of Okere and Nkawkaw were generally peaceful.
Prior to the elections, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwahu West Assembly, Mr. Alex Obeng Asamoah called on party members to ensure unity, peace and also exercise patience for government as it work around the clock to put the economy on sound footing.He advised followers of the party party to use the internal grievance mechanism to address their concerns, rather than embarking on destructive criticism and writing of petitions.
The DCE for Akropong North, Mr. George Opare Addo for his part called on the members to work harder since the task ahead of them for the 2012 elections is very daunting.
At the end of the peaceful elections which were supervised by the Deputy Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Eric Mensah Bonsu, saw Mr. Douglas Samuel Adjei, the incumbent Chairman retaining his seat, with Goerge Lartey, Bismark Enock Larbi and Joshua Adjei-Akuamah wining the Vice Chairman, Secretary and Deputy Secretary respectively.
The rest include Francis Geli, Organizer, Ransford Oteng Asare, Deputy Organizer, Janet Asare-Women Organizer, Faustina Annobea, Samuel Ansah Ayeh, Daniel Mensah, Ransford Daniel Yeboah, Gladys Offei, Daniel Ayim Adu and David Ofosu as Deputy Women Organizer, Youth and Deputy Youth Organizers, Treasure and Deputy Treasure, Propaganda and Deputy respectively.
At Nkawkaw earlier in the week, Mr. Oppong Francis, chairman and Vice of the constituency Mr. Samuel Adjei, and team of executives including Mr. Adu Kofi Isaac, Secretary and deputy -Mr. Attipo Emmanuel were retained to continue with their hard work.
