Huambo — A homage was paid Wednesday in central Huambo province to the Angolan first and late president, António Agostinho Neto.
The homage was paid by Angolan prime minister, Antonio Paulo Kassoma, who aid a wreath by his bust in the city, as part of the celebrations of the 34th anniversary of the National Independence, November 11.
The main event of the celebrations of the November 11 was held in Huambo province, and included a public rally and inauguration of several social undertakings.
The homage was witnessed by representatives of political parties, civil society, traditional authorities and local government.
Born on September 17, 1922, Agostinho Neto proclaimed the National Independence on November 11, in Luanda. He died of disease on September 10, 1979, in the former Soviet Union.
