Tanzania: Young Africans Move for Nigerian Striker

12 November 2009

Young Africans are on the brink of signing a Nigerian forward, Chukwedi Chidudem, who would arrive in Dar es Salaam today for trials and medical examinations.

The club's information officer, Louis Sendeu said Chidudem starred for several clubs including his home sides Abuja FC and Ajumbe Owori.

The official disclosed that the Nigerian hitman has also played for Guangzhou of China and KF Besiana of Kosovo.

As Young Africans look set to lose Mike Baraza to their archrivals, Simba, Sendeu said the Nigerian would be a perfect replacement of Baraza.

The Young Africans' secretary general, Lawrence Mwalusako confirmed yesterday that hopes of signing Baraza were hanging by a thread.

"His contract with us has expired and he doesn't seem interested to renew it. He has been shunning our officials," he said.

Young Africans are desperate to bolster their squad ahead of the second round of the Vodacom Premier League in order to save the season.

"We've tried to contact him several times, but he doesn't pick our calls, this denotes that he has made up his mind and doesn't want to serve us anymore," he said.

However, Mwalusako said the head coach, Kosta Papic would give them the list of who to drop or sign during this mini transfer window.

There are unconfirmed reports that the Kenyan has already signed a two- year deal for Simba.

When contacted for the clarification, the Simba's registration committee chairman, Kassim Dewji admitted to have signed Baraza from Nairobi.

"It's true that we've signed Baraza, but not Mike, we have already finalised all transfer procedures and he would land anytime," he said.

It will be a big blow for struggling Young Africans who want to strengthen their squad and remain with five internationals only.
