Another batch of 14 students recently left Banjul for the Kingdom of Morocco, to pursue their first postgraduate degree programme in various fields of study.
Speaking to our reporter shortly before their departure, Mariama Fofana-Mendy, a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, said this batch which comprises eight males and six females, is the latest beneficiary of the President, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh's sponsorship package for 2009/ 2010 academic year. According to her, these students will spend one year studying the French language and then continue on to their various study programmes, ranging from medicine, economic and finance, electronic engineering, communication and other fields.
She further advised students to work hard and to be law abiding as good ambassadors. Modou Lamin Badjie, a would-be economic and finance student and Rohey Jatta, a would-be medicine student, on behalf of their colleagues, thanked President Jammeh and his government for according them the opportunity to further their education in Rabat. They however promised to live up to expectation. Family members who accompanied them also expressed similar sentiments and prayed for the Gambian leader's good health.
