THE MMD national executive committee (NEC) has appointed veteran politician William Banda to act as Lusaka Province chairperson for the party in the interim capacity.
Mr Banda replaces Geoffrey Chuumbwe, who was expelled from the ruling party after he joined the opposition PF.
MMD national secretary, Katele Kalumba announced the development in a statement yesterday.
"On behalf of the NEC, the national secretary has directed that Mr William Banda will be acting provincial chairperson for Lusaka in an interim capacity with immediate effect," Dr Kalumba said.
Mr Banda is an experienced politician who served in the first, second and third republics.
