Abuja — Minister for Works, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Hassan Muhammad Lawal yesterday gave the contractor handling the dualisation of the Kaduna eastern by-pass in Kaduna up till January 2010 to improve on the job or face termination of the contract.
The minister who disclosed that four billion naira had so far been paid to the contractors by this administration, said the project is to complement the Kaduna western by-pass. Dr, Lawal, who was visibly angry at the low level of work while inspecting the project site, told the contractor, Eksiogullari Construction Nigeria Limited that he was grossly disappointed with the job awarded since 2002.
The minister later paid a courtesy call on the Kaduna state governor where he was received by his deputy, Mr. Patrick Yakowa
Mr. Yakowa asked for federal government's attention on the Marraraba -Pambeguwa -Jos road and said the state has just awarded the contract for dualisation of the former Waff road now Muhammadu Buhari road in Kaduna.
