Nigeria: Communities to Get N110 Million Across Niger From Fadama III

Minna — Twenty-five FADAMA communuities from 25 Local Development Plans are to get the total sum of N110 million from the fadama III project, the Niger state commissioner of agriculture and rural development, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf said.

The commissioner made the disclosure at a flag off ceremony of disbursement of funds to communities for subproject implementation under the fadama III project yesterday in Niger. "I understand 25 local development plan have been approved which 25 fadama communities , associations and 375 fadama user groups are to benefit for subproject implementation to the tune of N110 million.

Adding that "About N35 million will be paid as beneficiary contribution, while N10 million will be distributed to fadama community owned infrastructure as productive assets component", he said.

Yusuf therefore called on other fadama user groups not listed among beneficiaries to draw up a plan so that they can benefit from the funds, as he urged the beneficiaries of yesterday disbursement to utilize monies given to them judiciously.

The state coordinator of the project, engineer Aliyu Kutigi said fadama III is aimed at effective use of land and water to the overall benefit of Nigeria across states of the federation, adding that the project has a life span of five years.

He called on government and Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) to assist in the implementation of subprojects of the benefiting communities, stating that the fadama office will do its best to ensure successful delivery of target goals.
