Some 6,000 members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) in East Africa will cheer Super Eagles to victory in Nairobi on Saturday. The Super Eagles are engaging the Harambee Stars of Kenya in a qualifier for South Africa 2010 World Cup.
The match, a must-win for the team, will kick-off at 2.00 pm Nigerian time at the Kasarani Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.Rafiu Ladipo, President-General of NFSC, told NAN in Lagos on Thursday that the club had over 58,000 members worldwide as at January 2009.
"Our members in Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya totaling about 6,000 will be fully mobilised to cheer the Super Eagles from the blast of the whistle," he said.
The NFSC chief expressed optimism that the team would be at the 2010 Mundial."I am optimistic that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
"I see Nigeria defeating the Harambee Stars right there (Nairobi) on Saturday; I am also sure that the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia will fall in Maputo same day," he said.
Ladipo condemned the use of "Vuvuzella" by spectators at the stadium because of its deafening noise."Vuvuzella is not part of our culture. We use songs and musical instruments like trumpets, flutes and dance to send messages to the players on the pitch.
"Vuvuzella is popular in South Africa, not in Nigeria," Ladipo said.
He urged Nigerians to pray for the Super Eagles to ensure their victory against the Harambee Stars on Saturday. The NFF officials, players, technical crew and Ladipo will travel to Kenya on Thursday's night by a chattered flight.

It is a mere wishful thinking that Nigeria will qualify for S/Africa 2010 World Cup. The permutation of qualification should have been made at the early stage. The problem like anything in Nigeria is the Management the NFA is either does not understand sports administration or it is out for itself but not for the player’s period. There is no reason why Nigeria under 17 and 21 would go and beat the world but at state of maturity would not beat the same players they played against prior. Hey something is wrong here and it is the NFA and Minister of Sports.
