Tunisia: Country Announces Upcoming Launch of New Educational Portal 'Telmidh.com'

Tunis — According to a news brief released on Wednesday in Tunis, a new digital educational portal "telmidh.com" will be operational on Sunday, November 15, 2009.

Under the slogan, "Learning without restraints", the portal was set up by the Tunisian Family and Education Organization (OTEF), in collaboration with the company "Skwere", a Tunisian web engineering company specializing in software and digital programs.

"telmidh.com" 's 4 websites, target teachers, parents and students (at secondary education) by providing content in accordance with the official programs and set up by the Ministry of Education and training.

Mr. Salem Mekki, OTEF chairman, said "telmidh.com" aims at encouraging the use of information and communication technology in educational programs in order to promote widespread access to electronic network to all students.

He added that the portal will enable students to interact immediately with their teacher and have access to the correction of exercises.

The portal includes a space for the teacher to develop online courses and teaching materials for the student. Another space is dedicated to students, allowing them to download documents and interact with site visitors, students and teachers; parents will also be able to access teaching tips.

To access to the portal, visitors have to use an e-payment card of a value of 5 dinars, available at post offices.
