SINJEMBELA Member of Parliament (MP) MMD, Mubika Mubika has said MMD remains strong in the province and pledged to continue working hard and ensure that development was delivered.
And MMD acting spokesperson Mike Mulongoti has advised suspended Western Province MMD provincial chairperson Simasiku Namakando to put his differences aside if he has the interest of the party at heart.
Mr Mubika, who is deputy minister for Transport and Communication said he was confident that the party would remain strong in the province despite the dissolution of the provincial executive committee led by Mr Namakando.
He said he was confident that the party would win support from the province based on its development programmes put in place to better the lives of people.
He was reacting to Mr Namakando who was quoted as having said that it would be a miracle to make the MMD strong in the Western Province and accused President Rupiah Banda of marginalising the people in the province through development deprivation.
Mr Mubika said he would continue to work hard and ensure that the MMD continued to win support in his constituency.
He further said there was still room to correct any mistakes that could had been made and that he was explained that the MMD had continued to deliver its promises to all the provinces.
"I believe that this misunderstanding will come to pass because it is like in a family where people would have different views but at the end of it all, the matter is resolved. I see the same with our party," he said.
Mr Mulongoti, who is also Works and Supply minister, in an interview yesterday questioned how Mr Namakando intended to build the party when he had continued to discredit it through the media.
He said as far as the MMD was concerned, Mr Namakando was just suspended and not expelled from the party and that it was important that he put the interest of the party first.
"We feel that the best Mr Namakando can do is to put the interest of the party first because if today the ruling party decides to lift the suspension and is brought back a as chairman for the party how is he going to build it?" he asked.
