Kampala — THE US government has tripled its funding towards family planning and reproductive health activities in Uganda to $15m (over sh28b) this year.
This implies that the funds have risen from $5m (about sh9.5b) for the activities since 2005, the U.S. Mission to Uganda announced on Thursday.
The United States Agency for International Development will use the increased resources to support the Government to increase access to quality health care, a statement, signed by Kelvin Kiyingi, the information assistant for the US embassy in Kampala, read.
The funding will enable women and couples to choose the number of children they want and space their births, reduce HIV transmission, abortions, maternal and child mortality.
