Abuja — Though Nigeria failed to retain the FIFA U-17 World Cup trophy yesterday, the Golden Eaglets Sani Emmanuel yesterday pocketed two trophies to dominate the tournament's awards.
The Eaglets also won the FIFA Fair Play award, making it her third time of winning the trophy since the championship started in 1985, having won it in 19993 and 2001. Emmanuel, who garnered 30.2 %, won the adidas Golden Ball award, beating Ben Kalifa Ali of Switzerland and compatriot Ramon Azeez to the second and third place respectively. Azzez and Ali got 22.7 and 17.8 respectively. Emmanuel, with five goals also won the adidas silver shoe award behind Borja of Spain who also had five goals and one assist. The bronze went to Gallegos Sebastian of Uruguay who equally has five goals to his credit.
