Abuja — Nestle Nigeria Plc has donated N15 million to the University of Agriculture Abeokuta to boost the Soybean Popularization Project and Farm Family Health Initiative for farmers in the South West part of the country. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestle Mr. Martin Woolnough said for a company to have long term business success, it must simultaneously create value for farmers and their families.
He said the Nestle/UNAAB Soybean Popularization Project and the Farm Family Health Initiative are in line with his company's business strategy of nutrition, health, wellness and rural development. He said that creating value for farmers in terms of developing multiple streams of income generation activities and agribusiness as well as improving the quality of rural farm family is a key to Nestle building a sustainable business in the long term.
Woolnough said Nestle works directly with almost 600,000 farmers throughout the world, providing about CHF 30 million (over US D 27million) worth of microfinance last year.
