Awka — The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has finalised preparations toward having a successful three-in-one celebration as it marks 20 years anniversary, third international convention and 2009 annual anointing service.
Tagged "Making Positive History", the programme, which will be held at the sprawling Prayer City, Kilometre 12, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, will run from Wednesday, 18 to Sunday, 22 November.
Speaking to journalists last Tuesday, the Prayer City Commandant, a Senior Regional Overseer, Pastor Femi Ajila, said the convention is to bring all members of the church from the diaspora and local branches together.
According to him, members of the ministry from over 70 countries of the world where MFM has registered its presence would be represented.
He said the events are an opportunity for pastors and members to mingle and that already some foreign members of the church have been arriving since a couple of weeks to the D-day.
Pastor Ajila who spoke on behalf of the General Overseer (G.O) of the MFM worldwide, Dr, Daniel Kolawole Olukoya said "Some people who have read some of the books and literatures of the G.O. (Olukoya) from far and near and have been so blessed through such have been itching to have personal contact with the G.O. (Olukoya) and this is an opportunity to see him,".
Noting that the last convention, which was held some three years ago witnessed wondrous miracles, raw manifestation of the awesome power of God and deliverance, Pastor Ajila pointed out that the church was being guided by this experience to make adequate preparations to host no fewer than one million worshippers at the forthcoming convention and anointing service.
The church, he said, is not leaving anything to chances to ensure the convenience of attendees and other motorists plying the ever-busy express road during the period.
He said the church has partnered with the police, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) among other security agencies to ensure free-flow of traffic during the five-day programme.
"We have also partnered with the tanker drivers, through their chairmen, to ensure the road from Berger to Ogere is free of tankers and we all agreed that by Tuesday (17 November) all the tankers will vacate that stretch of the expressway," the Prayer City Commandant disclosed.
According to him, there are "sufficient car parks for attendees and we have enough men to usher cars to designated car parks," adding that it will do everybody a lot of good if drivers and car owners comply with the ushers' directives.
Pastor Ajila also disclosed that the MFM had opened the blockage on the longest bridge on the express road, to de-flood the bridge, which is flooded whenever there is a downpour and causes traffic congestion as motorists have to snarl through a single lane because other four lanes are flooded and impassable.
He also revealed that following the G.O's directive that more boreholes be bored, the Prayer City, which hitherto had 15 boreholes now has 32, and that each borehole has ten taps attached to it, making a total of 320 taps in all, to serve the needs of worshippers at the events.
Over 120 units of toilet facilities have also been provided for the conveniences of attendees and these are spread across the nooks and crannies of the arena.
On accommodation, the Prayer City Commandant said several hostels have been put on ground and that they are of varying categories, such as the VIP lodge, the executive lodge, masses lodge and 24 mini halls, adding that several canopies, equipped with air conditioners, will be erected as well, to accommodate people who may want to rest and relax in-between the loaded programme.
He also stated that notable leading eateries have taken spaces to provide delicacies to the worshippers, while other private caterers too have been given spaces to sell assorted dishes to the attendees.
The convention/anointing service will also witness the celebration of the Teenage Ministry, the Youth Ministry, the Women Foundation groups among others, who will use the opportunity of the attendance to hold their events.
He said the MFM, known for its peculiar way of praying, will also offer special prayer sessions for Nigeria and the states, while the nation's leaders too would be prayed for, during the programme that will include seminars, talks and symposium, among others.
Internet facilities to accommodate about 70 browsers simultaneously, as well as an international bookshop, several shopping malls, among other facilities, have also been put on ground at the Prayer City for the attendees.
Newsmen were taken on a site-seeing tour of the facilities at the Prayer City.
