Jalingo — Taraba State House of Assembly has reinstated five local government chairmen earlier suspended for allegation of bribery. The local government chairmen were reinstated by a unanimous decision of the Assembly.
Explaining the Assembly's decision to newsmen in Jalingo, Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Abel Peter Diah, said the Assembly decided to reinstate the chairmen because the matter was before a court of law.
He said the Assembly does not want a situation were the lawmakers' action would interfere with the court's judgments. He said since the matter is already in the court, the House withdrew from the case to allow the court give its judgment.
Diah added that the court judgment would be the final decision in the alleged bribery scandal involving the local government chairmen and the state civil service chairman, adding that any local government chairman involved would face the wrath of the court.
