Nigeria: Re-Branding Gets Scholarly Boost

Umuahia — THE current re-branding campaign spear-headed by the minister of Information and Communication, Professor Dora Akunyiri, this week received a scholarly boost as a Nigerian born and German-based writer Mr. Emeka Onwuakor unveils his latest book; "This Is Nigeria" to the dossier of the re-branding academic works already in circulation in the country.

Addressing Journalists in Umuahia, the author of the 277 page book slated for public presentation in Owerri later this month said the book is a must read for policy makers, legislators, politicians and indeed every Nigerian who is genuinely committed to the current re-branding campaign of the Nigerian nation.

"This book ought to be read by all because it is a compendium of the way we are as a people and a nation and proffers prescriptions on the way forward. In this era of re-branding Nigeria ,' This is Nigeria ' ought to be in the book shelf of every patriotic Nigerian".

According to him, writing the book was a burden because as a patriot he considers it a disservice to the nation to stand aloof and watch things go wrong; and a responsibility because he owes it a duty to contribute his quota to the nation building and development.

He further hinted that he was inspired by the likes of his Old boy associate at Government College Umuahia and renown author, Professor Chinua Ache be, and other crusaders for the enthronement of social justice, equity, egalitarian society and good leadership, stressing that his aim is not to maximize profit but to inject his ideas into the reading public for a re-branded Nigerian State.
