The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Luca Fratini, has called for the establishment of a partnership between Italy and Ghana for mutual benefit.
Setting the tone for their engagement with Ghana, he said the Italian government believed that the 21st century economy would not be built through giving loans but through effective cooperation leading to development of business interests of partners for mutual growth.
Mr. Fratini made these remarks at a press conference in Accra to outline his country's foreign policy engagements with Ghana after presenting his letters of credence to President John Atta Mills on Tuesday.
Mr. Fratini said Italy did not believe in pushing for her own interests to the detriment of others adding that: "We will not resort to master-servant relationship to ensure that we always have our way".
He announced that his country was implementing a 33 million euro scheme called Ghana Private Sector Development Facility to give loans at concessionary rates to Ghanaian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to improve on their performance. "11 million euros out of the package has already been disbursed" he said.
He said the Italian Cooperation Agency had also been involved in the water and sanitation improvement projects as well as waste management across the country. The Italians, he revealed, were not new to the Ghanaian terrain having built some of her strategic plants including the Akosombo Dam, Tema Oil Refinery and other infrastructure. The good will the embassy enjoyed among Ghanaians would urge it to do more to justify its presence in the country.
On the political front, Mr. Fratini said relations between the two countries dated back to the independence days. This was given a further boost by the visit of the Italian President Mr. Georgio Napolitanio to Ghana during the Golden Jubilee celebrations.
So far a lot was being done to enhance the relations with Ghana to ensure that visits by political actors of both countries to engage in bilateral talks yielded many benefits for their citizenry rather than becoming mere talk shops.
He said just like the over 50,000 Ghanaians in Italy, Italians were hardworking and tolerant, a situation that ensured trust for business engagements.
On culture, he said Italy held about two thirds of the world's cultural heritage and would import some of it to Ghana for the enjoyment of all. In view of this, the Embassy had put in place various cultural activities including film shows, paint exhibitions to be celebrated between November and December. This, he hoped, would make the public to appreciate the similarities between the two countries.
Mr. Fratini also announced that he was working out a scheme, which would enable a number of Ghanaians to travel to Italy on a scholarship to undergo a six-month skills acquisition course to enhance their performance upon return.
According to him, Italy had a specialized institution, which could also provide specialized peace keeping training for Ghanaian forces to enhance their operations.
On visa acquisition, he said the Embassy would not reject or deny any Ghanaian visa to Italy unless the applicant presented false documents. He expressed the hope that Ghana would learn from the mistakes of other oil producers by formulating policies that would ensure transparency within the sector. - GNA

Saturday Novemeber 15, 1884 to Feb, 1885 according to the book “King Leopold’s Ghost “ (1998) Adam Hochschild
1884 - In November 14 European nations (Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey) and the US meet at the Conference of Berlin, called to carve up central Africa among them.
1885 - The Conference of Berlin concludes in February. France is given 670,000 square kilometres on the north bank of the Congo (modern Congo-Brazzaville and the Central African Republic) and Portugal 910,000 square kilometres to the south (modern Angola).
Over the next 23 years Léopold will amass a huge personal fortune by exploiting the Congo directly and by leasing concessions to private companies prepared to pay him 50% of their profits. The period will witness some of the worst atrocities ever committed on the African continent. However, Léopold will never visit the region, ruling instead by decree from Belgium.
PART II : BRUSSELS CONFERENCE
November 18, 1889 to July 2, 1890 a total of 16 Nations met :

1889 - On 18 November the 15 signatories to 1885's 'General Act of Berlin', along with Persia, gather on Léopold's invitation at the 'Conference of Brussels' to discuss further measures for the suppression of the slave trade on the African continent.
1890 - After 33 sessions the Conference of Brussels concludes on 2 July with the participants declaring they are "animated by the firm intention of putting an end to the crimes and devastation engendered by the traffic in African slaves, of protecting effectually the aboriginal populations of Africa, and of insuring for the vast continent the benefits of peace and civilisation."
The general act ratified by the conference includes an article binding the signatories to "support and, if necessary, to serve as a refuge for the native populations; ... to diminish intertribal wars by means of arbitration; ... to raise them by civilisation and bring about the extinction of barbarous customs, such as cannibalism and human sacrifices; and, in giving aid to commercial enterprises, to watch over their legality, controlling especially the contracts for service entered into with natives."

Currency Exchange is designed to puff up certain peoples and nations over others. The numbers are constantly telling some that they are inferior to others. The problem intensifies when those being manipulated by this financial scam buy in to this wicked scheme.
What’s the solution to INFERIORITY CURRENCY EXCHANGE ? Stop giving away our souls one piece of money ( dollar , pound, franc, rand, deniro, rupal, euro, Chinese renminbi, rupee, Russian ruble,etc..) at-a-time .
Do research on what price your product gets in the so-called First World countries. And demand that price. This will not work unless people at the local areas do this together. Form Co-Ops and agree to charge the prices you deserve.
2) INFERIORITY = Pay by Time
There is another system used to oppress people that feeds the business owners with a lust for MORE profit. One year they may have profits of 50%, the next year they may have profits of 100%, the next year their profits may only be 75%. The system in the world will consider that going from 100% profits to 75% profits is bad for business.
How is that bad ? Profits are profits ! Many businesses have different levels of pay for the same workers.; levels such as :
a) Top Salaries – Private and only known to each individual workers b) Medium Salaries – Private “ “ “ “ c) Lower Salaries – Private and only known to each individual workers d) High Hourly Wages e) Medium Hourly Wages f) Minimum Hourly Wages
I suggest that EVERY WORKER SHOULD BE PAID A LIVING WAGE. The Minimum Wage is like a financial ball and chain ; only giving those receiving it just enough to live to see the next day.
The Living Wage allows workers to live, invest, spend, save, and thrive. We can dream about having our own businesses , then wake up and attain our dreams. This is great for the businesses that pay Living Wages. For this creates new customers and new generations of customers.
As long as the system of Living Wages is in place, there will be a thriving economy and a blooming world full of optimistic activities. But it will only happen when business owners see the benefit of paying more pennies to make more dollars ! Which of you business owners will have the insight, recognition, roots, understanding, initiative, moxy, & compassion to make the step most are afraid to make.
