Nigeria: ABU Promotes 53 Lecturers

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has promoted 25 lecturers to the rank of Professors, and 28 others, to Readers.

The Information and Protocol Officer (IPO) of the university, Mr. Bitrus Galmaka

said in Zaria on Thursday that the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof.

Jarlath Umoh made the announcement in a statement.

Those promoted to the rank of professors are, Dr. D. A. Adawa of Veterinary Teaching Hospital; Dr. A. I. Lawal of Veterinary Parasitological department; Dr. Maiwada Sulaiman, Agric Engineering department; Dr G. D. Kalayi, Surgery and Dr (Mrs) M Iliyas, Pharmacology and Drug Development.

Others are Dr. D. A. Ameh, Biochemistry; Dr. (Mrs) Ifeoma Ibeanu, Centre for Energy Research and Dr. S. O. Alabi, Institute for Agricultural Research, Dr. S. E. Atawodi, Biochemistry department; Dr Sunday Bako, Biological Sciences; Dr. Farouk Rashid, Physical and Health Education.

Others include Dr. Francis Abayomi, Plant Science; Dr Casimar Emmanuel, Chemistry department; Dr. Eli Jiddere, Mechanical Engineering; Dr Kabir Sabitu, Community Medicine; Dr. Audu Kadibo, Physical and Health Education and Dr Stephen Pinder, Civil Engineering.

Also promoted are, Dr Gerald Akpa, Plant Science; Dr Sadiq Zubair, National Agricultural and Extension Research Liaison Services; Dr Hyacinth Mbibu, Surgery.

Dr. Musa Balabe, Education; Dr Stephen Olanitola, Microbiology; Dr Edwin Iguisi, Geography; Dr Enoch Oyedele, History and Joseph Anuka, Pharmacy and Clinical Chemistry.

He said those promoted to readership are, Dr Jocob Jari, Fine Arts; Dr Musa Yusuf, Pharmacology and Drug Development; Dr (Mrs) Afiniki Bawa, Crop Protection, Dr Adamu Uzairu, Chemistry and Dr Sabo Ezemul, Microbiology department.
