Foot and Mouth Disease has resurfaced in Kiruhura and Isingiro districts after nearly a year. The disease broke out two weeks ago.

In October, Kiruhura lifted the ban on livestock markets in most sub-counties after the disease was said to have been contained. Daily Monitor has learnt that the disease broke out in Sanga, Kiruhura, Masha and Kabingo sub-counties.

Kiruhura District Veterinary Officer Francis Mugisha and his Isingiro counterpart, Bruhan Kasozi, confirmed the outbreak on Friday.

Dr Kasozi said they had started vaccinating animals but the exercise was hindered by shortage of vaccines. "We had 4,000 doses, which are over but we hope to get more," he said.
