Kampala — THE state has taken over investigations of Kabale FUFA delegate Godfrey Kwizera for alleged mismanagement of football funds while he was vice president of the federation.
Kwizera is expected at Old Kampala Police Station today to appear for questioning with former FUFA treasurer Edward Ssembatya and Kampala Central delegate Yusuf "Chuni" Kyeyune.
Police said preliminary investigations started with a search for information at the FUFA headquarters.
"We were tipped off about misuse of public funds. As the state, we had to initiate investigations. Questioning of those officials on Monday will determine the way forward," a police officer at the station said.
The former Denis Obua deputy allegedly sold off a FUFA bus and did not remit the funds. He also has not accounted for sh6m meant to offset the federation debts.
"There are documents to that effect," the source said. FUFA boss Lawrence Mulindwa is also in court on a sh900m criminal suit.
