Pretoria — South Africa's Ambassador to Malawi, Ntombi Mabude, is in a stable condition and recovering from her injuries after a car crash in Isipingo, Durban in KwaZulu-Natal.
Mabude was involved in an accident in the early hours of Saturday morning and rushed to the St Augustine Hospital, according to a statement from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.
Although the ambassador sustained injuries, her condition remains stable.
"The cause of the accident is unknown, and more information will be communicated as this becomes available. The Ministry and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation regrets the accident and are wishing the Ambassador a speedy recovery."
The department said that Mabude was expected to be released on Monday.
