Uganda: Housemates Shed Tears Upon Hearing From Home

Kampala — YOU would think someone had died. From every corner of the Big Brother Revolution house, contestants were drenched in tears Saturday afternoon.

They were tears of joy and love after Biggie played for the housemates video messages from their loved ones back home, people they haven't heard from since they set foot in the Big Brother house two months ago.

Nigeria's Kevin is the only one who didn't hear from home, an exemption dealt him by the Molotov cocktail Tanzania's Elizabeth hurled at him upon her eviction last Sunday. She said it was to keep Kevin focused and not home-sick.

Malawi's Mzamo was more in control; she just screamed in delight on seeing videos of her nephew, best friend and brother in-law.

Nigeria's Nkenna cried the most on hearing the people back home are proud of her representation in the house, which was much like the rest of the messages the other housemates received.

Housemates said Nkenna overdid it to win sympathy from voters. I couldn't believe Leonel's dad when he said he was proud of his son now that he was "acting maturely in the house" - was he kidding me?

Just the other day Leonel blew mucus from his nose onto his plate of food and mixed it in just so he could prevent housemates from eating it.

Is that the maturity the old man was talking about? Meanwhile, we have 20 days until the last man standing leaves the M-Net reality show sh400m richer.

Following yesterday's eviction of either Kevin or Mozambique's Leonel (the eviction hadn't yet taken place by press time), there are now seven housemates left on t show.

And one of them will walk away with the jackpot up for grabs. My money is on Namibia's Edward, who has positioned himself strategically to win.

He has been head of the house twice in a row, and hasn't made enemies throughout his tenure. Interestingly, he saved Zimbabwe's Itai from yesterday's eviction.

Now Itai, who won the head-of-house task on Friday, is bound to return the favour in case Edward is nominated today. Tune in tonight at 9:00pm to find out who is up for possible eviction come Sunday.
