Zimbabwe: Bulls 'Could Avoid Relegation'

DAVID George was in charge of Motor Action yesterday as the Mighty Bulls recorded an important victory that steered them away from the drop zone. The former Dynamos' assistant coach took over from head coach Joey Antipas, who has been appointed team manager in a major shake up at the Mighty Bulls.

In his first game in charge George collected three points at Motor Action Sports Club, which saw the Mighty Bulls move one place up the ladder from position 12 to 11. The Bulls displaced Bantu Rovers (29 points) after taking their points tally to 30 points from 27 outings. The Bulls have three league matches to play before the season ends.

Njube Sundowns, who are in third place from the basement, will need a miracle to avoid relegation. The Bulawayo side has collected 26 points from 27 outings.

The other teams in the red are Underhill and Black Rhinos who play today. Underhill have raked in 25 points from 26 matches while Rhinos are on 19 points from the same number of games.

Isaac Masame scored the priceless goal for the Mighty Bulls as early as the fourth minute following some good work by Enasio Perezo.

The little Perezo weaved his way past a cluster of Sundowns defenders before teeing Masame, who hit a blistering shot, which hit the goal post before finding the nets.

Sundowns' goalkeeper Godwills Saungweme did not see the ball as it went in.

The visitors looked jaded yesterday and the sight of director Gift Banda directing operations from the bench did not make the situation better.

The Bulawayo side is short on arsenal and was playing a defender Sikhumbuzo Banda as their striker. Danisa Phiri was also shunted into striking position yesterday.

Masame led the raids for the Bulls.
