Kampala — THE MTN Kampala international marathon starts with a wheelchair event at Kololo airstrip today. Two other events -- a IHK Hope Ward Fun Run and a mock marathon will be held concurrently with the wheelchair race.
Organising committee chairman Aggrey Kagonyera said the plan to have the wheelchair event before the main marathon was adopted from other international marathons.
Today's events will pave way for the main menu next Sunday that has the full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), corporate challenge, 10km open challenge and the 10km corporate challenge.
The events have attracted 17,502 participants from within and outside the country.
