Ghana: Zenith Bank to Pay More Attention to Agricultural Financing

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, Mr. Andy Ojei has announced that from the beginning of next year the bank would pay more attention to agricultural financing in the country.

According to him, although the bank finances all sectors of the Ghanaian economy including the agricultural sector "We are going to give more credits to players in the agricultural sector" to solve their problems of accessing capitals.

Mr. Ojei disclosed to some journalists during the bank's National Health Walk in Accra, over the weekend. The walk started from the State House car park through the principal streets of Osu and later converged at the park.

Addressing the Staff of the bank and some Members of Parliament, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Joe Ajaho, who represented the Speaker of Parliament, Madam Justice Adeline Joyce Bamford Addo indicated that the leadership of the House was prepared to collaborate with the bank to ensure that health walk be an annual affair. He appealed to Ghanaians to exercise regularly in order to prolong their life span.

The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who waxed biblical said "There is a spiritual correlation between health and wealth", and urged the management of the bank to organize more such laudable programmes to further improve the health status of their staff. He admonished the bankers -"As you build your capital, you should also build yourselves through exercises and healthy lifestyles".

Adding his voice, the MD/CEO of the bank, Andy Ojei called on the staff of the bank to exercise regularly to prevent them from sicknesses. According to him, the bank would organize health walks in every four months times in every where the bank operates, adding -"As we speak, there are similar walks going on in Tema, Cape Coast, Kumasi, Takoradi and Tamale".
